Chicago NCAA Football Bars: Week 5, 2022

The 2006 and 2007 seasons of NCAA football each featured one week of seven games between ranked opponents. Around that time the phrase, “Separation Saturday” was coined, referencing a weekend with multiple match-ups between top-25 ranked football teams.

While this weekend features just five of these games, that’s more than enough to fulfill any college football fan’s day. Saturday, October 1st is set to be the biggest day yet for NCAA football in 2022.

All of these five games will take place Saturday, although it’s worth mentioning Friday will feature a Pac-12 battle between the Washington Huskies (#15) and UCLA Bruins. Both teams are undefeated despite UCLA being left out of the top-25 rankings. This will be a home game for the Bruins, who are currently 3-point underdogs to Washington.

The finale should be a great test for the ACC Conference, with a battle between two of the top-10 ranked teams. The Clemson Tigers (#5) will host the North Carolina Wolfpack (#10). While the Tigers will forever be a force to reckon with, the Wolfpack have played a great month of football, capped off by a convincing win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders 27-14 in Week Three.
