This weekend will conclude the official first full-month of collegiate football in 2022, and we’ve already witnessed action on the field no one could have expected:
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish start the season 0-2, including an embarrassing home loss to Marshall Thundering Hurd
- Appalachian State defeats Texas A&M Aggies at Bryon-College Station
- Kansas Jayhawks jump off to a 3-0 start, highlighted by a 55-42 win over West Virginia Mountaineers at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown
Notre Dame will be tested this Saturday when they head to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tarheels (3-0) at 3:30p. The Tarheels haven’t lost a game this season but were close to being upset by Appalachian State (watch out for the Mountaineers!) during week 2, with the final score being 63-61.
Outside of these unusual happenings, as the saying goes, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” The Georgia Bulldogs (#1, 3-0) look unstoppable, outsourcing their first three opponents 130-10. Most impressive was the Bulldogs week one victory over then ranked #15 Oregon Ducks by a score of 49-3.
The Ohio State Buckeyes, Clemson Tigers and Michigan Wolverines all look as fresh as ever, starting the season 3-0 with very little trouble over their scheduled opponents. We’ll see how this develops as we head into conference play.
