After a brief hiatus we’re back to bring you your out-of-town sports bars for the NCAA football games this weekend, in particular on Saturday, September 29th. Week 5 usually is the beginning point to when college football teams face their first test of the season. Who’s a contender and who’s a pretender? So far there’s a lot of contenders within the current AP Top 25 standings, with the top 9 teams all undefeated and a total of 14 undefeated teams within the top 25. All top 9 teams looked very dominant last week, with the exception of the Oklahoma Sooners (#7) who, despite home-field advantage needed overtime to defeat Army. Worthwhile (?) for those who spent $60 (or for the 32,000 who streamed without paying) just to watch the game.
Moving on to the big games this weekend; we’ve got 5 games between teams ranked in AP’s top 25 poll. What’ll likely be the best of the bunch is the battle between the top teams in the Big 10 Conference’s East Division between Ohio State and Penn State. If you recall last year’s game featured a 19-point 4th quarter comeback from the Buckeyes to pull off a 39-38 victory over PSU (then-ranked #2 team in the nation). Notre Dame and Stanford also play in South Bend on Saturday afternoon, which will bring one team their first loss of the season.
